An Ode to Sensori Awakend

[What I’ve Done]

Sensori Awakened [replenishment, 2024]

Our senses anchor us to the immediacy of what's real.

Earlier this year, I started the online business Sensori Awakened. The identity of the brand was built on incorporating elements of slow living into our lives. For me, it was a direct response to the compulsive hamster wheel of keeping myself busy when I felt a lack of stimulation engaging in the constant scroll of social media or video games because I didn't want to sit with myself. My job search earlier in the year was filled with moments of existential crisis, not having a chance to demonstrate myself in an industry that wanted me to be 8+ years ahead in my career. The idea of this business was more than a spec project; it was something I was co-creating to be a real hallmark of my lifestyle. A manifesto of slowing things down to become more attuned to what is immediate in the present moment while prioritizing spending the right amount of time on what matters most.

Starting this business has really emboldened me to believe in myself, and I would encourage anyone to find ways of expression. It doesn't have to look like starting a business; however, it can take the form of a new craft or developing art over time. We're living in an interesting time in history where many young people are joining more community-oriented activities such as running clubs to find solace in the face of challenges we are currently facing, such as global unrest, economic and job insecurity.

”Our senses are like the strings of a grand piano, each one playing a unique note that harmonizes to create the symphony of our lives. Just as a skilled pianist can evoke emotions and paint vivid pictures through their music, we can use our senses to unlock the hidden depths of our experiences..” — Khari Angel, Founder of Sensori Awakened
